Members of a non-governmental organisation undertook a ‘Sholay’-style agitation as they climbed on a water tank right here in Maharashtra on Thursday to protest towards Union minister Raosaheb Danve’s controversial feedback on the continuing stir by farmers over new agri legal guidelines.
The BJP chief has been dealing with flak after claiming that China and Pakistan have been behind the protests by farmers, who’re demanding scrapping of the three information agri-marketing legal guidelines enacted by the Modi authorities in September.
Volunteers of ‘Prahar’, an organisation headed by Maharashtra minister Bacchu Kadu, climbed on a water tank in Shivaji Nagar right here as a part of their agitation towards Danve.
The agitation began round 1 pm and continued until late within the evening because the protesters rejected repeated appeals by the police to come back down and display.
“We’ve commenced this agitation towards Raosaheb Danve as he has alleged that there was involvement of Pakistan and China within the farmers’ agitation happening in Delhi.
“We (outfit members) will proceed to be atop the water tank until Raosaheb Danve apologises for his remarks,” Prahar district unit president Sudhakar Shinde advised PTI.
A police staff reached the spot and requested the volunteers to come back down and agitate, however to no avail.
“We requested the protesters to climb down and agitate. We aren’t utilizing any drive…when our males tried to climb the tank to pacify the protesters, they threatened to leap off the construction,” a senior official from the Jawahar Nagar police station mentioned.
